Job Description:
As an Assistant / Store Keeper at Freeshop, you will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the store, ensuring efficient inventory management and excellent customer service. Reporting directly to the Store Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, organizing merchandise, and assisting customers with their inquiries. Responsibilities:
- Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing merchandise shipments, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in inventory management.
- Maintain clean and organized storage areas, shelves, and displays to enhance the overall appearance of the store.
- Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular stock checks to identify discrepancies and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
- Assist customers in locating products, answering their questions, and providing information about promotions or special offers.
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system, handling cash and card payments.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager and other team members to implement merchandising strategies and promotional activities.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as restocking shelves, replenishing supplies, and cleaning the store premises.
- Follow safety and security procedures to protect the store’s assets and ensure a safe shopping environment for customers and employees.
- Assist with inventory audits and reconciliation processes to maintain accurate inventory records and minimize shrinkage.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improving store operations, customer service, and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in retail management is a plus.
- Prior experience in a retail or customer service role preferred, but not required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Basic math skills and proficiency in using a cash register or POS system.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, taking initiative to complete tasks and assist others as needed.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the store’s operating hours.
